About Ultra Renovations
Owner AJ Lopez Murillo grew up in the Pacific Northwest and worked across the trades, supervising team projects, before building Ultra around one value: professionalism is what separates a great contractor from an ordinary one.
Inside the house, AJ's crew has repaired drywall ceilings and walls, redone floors, painted rooms and handled finish work on an apartment.

Interior Home Renovations FAQ
Interior home renovations cover the surfaces and finishes inside the house: drywall and ceilings, flooring, paint and trim. It can be one room or several, and if you're starting with a kitchen or bathroom, those have their own pages.
We seal off the work area from the rooms you're using. On a storm-repair job, we protected the carpets and kitchen tile, covered furniture with plastic and put up floor-to-ceiling plastic walls with zipper openings so the dust stayed in the rooms being repaired.
Yes. We match the texture and paint when we repair drywall, so a patched wall or ceiling blends in with the rest of the room. One customer whose family room, breakfast area and guest room we repaired after a storm wrote that we matched both perfectly.
We've installed porcelain tile in kitchens and bathrooms, and waterproof vinyl plank over a new subfloor where the old one couldn't take daily wear. Tell us the rooms and how they're used, and we'll talk through options at the visit.
It depends on the work: paint, flooring and like-for-like finishes usually don't, while moving walls or changing plumbing or electrical usually do. Your city or Snohomish County decides building permits, and electrical permits come from Washington L&I.
Call (425) 268-0035 or send the form on this page. We come out to see the rooms, then go over the estimate with you in English or Spanish.
Not always. Washington's existing-building rules let unaltered stairs keep their current width, headroom and landings, and don't force new riser and tread sizes where the space can't allow a gentler slope. Added risers must match the existing ones, any reconstructed stair needs code handrails and guards, and stairs in the work area need lighting.
Under the 2021 residential code with Washington amendments, the door must be solid wood or solid or honeycomb-core steel at least 1-3/8 inches thick, or a 20-minute fire-rated door. It must be self-closing or automatic-closing and self-latching, and it can't open into a bedroom. Ducts through that wall must be at least 26-gauge steel.
When a habitable attic is created in an existing Washington home, the ceiling must be at least 6 feet 8 inches high, or 6 feet 4 inches in bathrooms, toilet rooms and laundry rooms. With a sloped ceiling, the required floor area needs at least 5 feet of height, and at least half of it needs 6 feet 8 inches.
Yes. Washington treats a loft as part of the story below if it's under 70 square feet with a ceiling no higher than 7 feet over more than half its area. The room below needs a 7-foot ceiling, the loft 3 feet of headroom, and guards must be 36 inches or half the clear height, whichever is less.
Washington requires plywood, particleboard, waferboard and OSB inside conditioned space to be identified as Exposure 1, Exterior or HUD-Approved. Wood veneer and hardboard paneling must go on framing spaced no more than 16 inches on center, and paneling thinner than 1/4 inch needs a gypsum board backer at least 3/8 inch thick.
Sí. Somos una empresa latina y bilingüe, y todo su proyecto puede hacerse en español, desde la primera llamada hasta la entrega final.
