Kitchen Remodeling in Lake Stevens

Ultra Renovations does. We're a Latino-owned, bilingual contractor based in Lake Stevens, rated 5.0 on Google, and kitchens are one of our two main services.

A kitchen remodel usually includes new cabinets, countertops, a sink and faucet, backsplash, lighting and flooring. Changing the layout, such as moving the sink or taking out a wall, makes the project bigger.

Often, yes, if they fit the new layout. In our Rustic Kitchen project, everything except the stove, fridge and dishwasher was replaced.

The cost depends on the size of the kitchen, the cabinets and counters you choose, and whether the layout changes. We give you a price once we've measured the kitchen and heard what you want.

Many kitchen remodels do, especially when walls, plumbing or wiring change. Inside city limits, building permits come from the City of Lake Stevens Permit Center and electrical permits come from Washington L&I. Homes in unincorporated areas go through Snohomish County.

Washington's residential code requires a range hood over an electric range to move at least 160 cfm or carry a 65% capture efficiency rating, and one over a gas or other combustion range to reach 250 cfm or 80%. Downdraft and other kitchen exhaust fans need 300 cfm. Intermittent kitchen exhaust must be rated no louder than 3 sones.

Generally, yes. Washington's code requires cooking exhaust to discharge outdoors through its own airtight duct with a backdraft damper, and that duct can't end in an attic, crawl space or anywhere inside the house. A listed ductless hood is allowed only when installed per the manufacturer's instructions in an enclosed kitchen that also has continuous exhaust ventilation.

Yes, in Washington. The 2023 National Electrical Code, in effect here since April 1, 2024, requires GFCI protection for all 125- to 250-volt kitchen receptacles on circuits of 150 volts to ground or less, not just countertop outlets. That reaches receptacles for the refrigerator, range, disposal and microwave, so plan for GFCI breakers or outlets on those circuits.

No. The 2023 National Electrical Code doesn't require island or peninsula receptacles, and Washington goes further: L&I's amendment drops the national rule to leave provisions for a future island outlet. If you add one, it must sit on or no more than 20 inches above the countertop, or be a listed countertop assembly, and it needs GFCI protection.

A modest one usually is. The 2025 Cost vs. Value report for Seattle puts a midrange minor kitchen remodel at $32,271, adding an estimated $38,098 in resale value, or 118.1% of its cost. A midrange major kitchen remodel averaged $95,542 and recouped 53.1%, and an upscale major remodel recouped 38.7%.
